The beauty of Vashon Island has drawn artists and others with a highly developed esthetic value and sensitivity, as if the Island were a vortex for people with talent and style. Artists in every medium perform and create here, enriching this small community with a cultural abundance, rivaling most urban areas.
The “Island View” monthly news letter announces planned events in the art community, although happenings are also spontaneous.
Whether it is a performance of opera excerpts in an intimate island venue, an open air concert of sitar music on a private estate open to the public, or an evening of rock ‘n’ roll in a main street night spot, Vashon’s community of musicians and performing artists are outstanding by all standards of excellence. The media arts---pottery, textile design, glass blowing/ fusing, painting, quilting (let your imagination run on)---are represented here by artists, many of whom are world class, living and producing here
and showing in New York, Los Angeles, Sedona, Phoenix, Delhi, Seattle, and wherever great talent is appreciated and sold! Two island-wide art tours are offered each year, before the holiday season and in mid-spring. (Featured here are the paintings of island professional, F. T. (Ted) Kutscher.)
Come and visit for a closer look at the life enriching style that truly defines this island paradise!
